Denise Mussio, LMT, CTM, NCTM, Reiki Master

I attended Irene's Myomassology Institute in 1994/95. I started my apprenticeship there in 1996 and am now one of their head instructors. I also teach the Chair Massage elective class, the Study Skills and the Physiology review applied classes. Irene's is where I took my Reiki I-III training under the teachings of Sue Burton Hidalgo. I completed my Reiki Master training again under Sue in 2005. I have been working as a full time Myomassologist/Massage Therapist since graduating in 1995.

I believe in the merging of Eastern and Western philosophies. Western Medicine has come a long way with diagnostic and treatment advances but there seems to be something missing, the "whole" person! Eastern Medicine looks at the whole person; physical, mental and emotional. This way of thinking lead me to taking a class with Dr. Harsha Jayatilake. That class brought me to working with him and I am now part of his team at St. Mary Mercy Hospital's Wellness Center. I very much enjoy being part of a individuals total health. 

I got started in bodywork by giving neck and shoulder massages to family and friends. When my mom found an article about massage schools in Michigan I knew I need to find out more. When I walked into Irene's Myomassology Institute I knew I had come home. My journey was just begining!
